Captain Anthony Patterson, President and CEOCapt. Pattersonīs marine simulation background includes serving as the Director of the Centre for Marine Simulation at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University from 2000 to 2007. Prior to arrival at the Marine Institute, Capt. Patterson was an officer in the Canadian Coast Guard with a seagoing background and a senior staff officer in Canadaīs maritime search and rescue program.He is a graduate of the Canadian Coast Guard College, holds a diploma in Nautical Science, a Coast Guard Command Certificate, a Master Marinerīs Certificate and a Bachelorīs Degree in Maritime Studies. |

Tyler Brand, Manager of Marine TrainingTyler holds a degree in NeuroScience from the University of Victoria, and has served in the Canadian Coast Guard since graduation. He first sailed on CCG icebreakers, including a transit of the Northwest Passage aboard the CCGS Sir Wilfred Laurier in 1996.Since that trip Tyler has Instructed at the CCGīs Rigid Hull Inflatable Operator Training School and was later named the Search and Rescue Training Officer for the CCG Pacific Region. As the SAR Training Officer Tyler has developed a number of regional and national programs and initiatives and published papers on various subjects including: search and rescue, professional team leadership and high-speed navigation. Currently on leave from the Coast Guard, Tyler has joined Virtual Marine Technology to open up the training and performance management division, based out of VMTīs Pacific office in Victoria, BC. |
